This butternut cabinet in Mexican style was built to hold a powerful stereo system. It has contoured drawers with mountains carved across the fronts, carved moldings, ebonized beading and break front set back. All surfaces were hand worked with plane and chisel before finishing.
The carvings come from carefully researched material and my own imagination.
Hand-carved panel of the comet Kahutek over the mountains, ocean and an apocryphal valley resort in Mexico, based on the client’s description and my own imagination.
Hand-carved bracket leaves. I based the carved trim pattern on the letter ‘V’, which begins the client’s name. Ebonized beading around the panels.
