Project Description

Description of carved panels

The form of this panel is similar but the carving is my own design. It is based on celtic mandals and here worked on a fine piece of butternut.

This is a carved panel in a frame to make a cabinet door. The carving is from a mexican source swiftly made with but two chisels; a gouge and veining tool displaying the irregularity of the workmanship of risk. A dyed maple bead separates frame from panel.

This is a side view of a carved diamond point panel typical of early French Canadian furniture. It is entirely made with hand tools in perfect grain butternut. Here the frame is moulded on the outside to make another shadow completing its sculptural effect.

Here I am rubbing out another coat of finish.
